Germinator

Germinator is a fun and unique game only found in the flash version of MicroGaming casinos. I don’t normally play the flash version, since the downloaded online casino offers much better graphics and more games, but this game is worth it. One benefit to the flash casinos is that they are MAC friendly, and there currently are no MAC versions of MicroGaming casinos that are available for download.

Germinator features a 6×6 grid of cartoon-like “germs” of different strains. Each germ is worth a certain amount based on your line bet, and when you line up three or more germs (vertically or horizontally) of the same strain, you will be paid for each germ. Once all the wins are tallied, the germs that lined up will pop and more will fall in from the top to fill the grid back up. This will continue until there is no longer any germs lined up.

There are pill capsules attached to some of the germs, and if you are left with at least 3 pills on the screen after the last wins are counted up, you can select a germ strain to wipe out. This gets rid of all the germs of that strain and the rest fall in to the empty spots. Choose wisely and you can end up with a great win.

I highly recommend trying this game, and there are a few others that are decent in the MicroGaming flash casino as well. Here is a link to the Golden Tiger Flash Casino where you can play this game, it is listed under “Other” in the games tabs and it is new so it’s on the first page. If you already have a Golden Tiger Casino account, you can sign in and play by clicking the “Connect” button, otherwise there is a big “Register” button in the bottom right corner where you can sign up to play for real or for fun.

Belle Rock Slot

Belle Rock is a 5-reel 9-payline slot that is exclusive to Belle Rock owned online casinos. It features symbols related to gambling, such as poker chips, cards, a wild that doubles your wins, and logos from the various Belle Rock online casinos.

The only online casinos that this slot can be found at are Jackpot City, Lucky Nugget, and Gaming Club. As far as I know, there aren’t any other casinos that have had the honour of Microgaming creating a unique slot for them. Judging by the graphics and sounds on this slot, it must have been created several years ago.

Free Spins are triggered when three or more Belle Rock scatter symbols land on the reels during a spin. You are awarded 15 free spins with all wins being tripled, and free spins can be retriggered.

I found it wasn’t too bad for a 9-payline slot, I don’t normally play them but this one is decent. I hit free spins quite a few times in the limited amount of time I spent playing this slot.

Christmas at Online Casinos 2010

Christmas is the season of giving, and even online casinos tend to be quite generous around the holidays. With special promotions and freebies all month, December is the best time of year to start playing at online casinos. These promotions are only for depositing players, so sign up and make a deposit soon to take advantage of this bonus filled month.

MicroGaming casinos are getting a new Christmas themed slot, named Santa’s Wild Ride. This new slot, coming December 7th, has Santa on a motorbike rather than his traditional ride.

All Slots Casino is giving away one free $50 bonus every single hour for the entire month to someone found playing online. Ten prizes of $250 gift cards will be given away in a draw this month, and you get double loyalty points on all their Christmas themed slots.

All of the Club World Casinos already give tons of bonuses every month, but there will be extra this month, and a free chip is likely to be given closer to Christmas day.

There is another calendar promotion at Jackpot City online casino with gifts for you every day of the month.

Golden Tiger Casino also has plenty of promotions going on, including giving away $1 Million, shared among several lucky players, each week until January 11th 2011. This is to celebrate their 10 year anniversary.

I don’t have the specifics yet for all the casinos that are featured on this website, but keep an eye on this page because I will be updating it whenever I get new information.

Retro Reels

Retro Reels was released to Microgaming casinos on November 9th 2010. This new slot, featuring symbols from classic slot machines like bars and sevens, has 5 reels, 20 paylines, and a free spins feature. It, along with Reel Gems, includes a brand new respin feature. You can pay a certain amount to respin one reel at a time after the initial spin is complete. Even if you line up 5 of a kind, you can respin one of the reels to try for it again.

Free spins are triggered when two or more “5 Free Spins” symbols land on the reels during a spin. Each symbol awards 5 free spins, so if five land on the reels during a spin you are awarded 25 free spins. All wins during free spins are doubled and free spins can be retriggered.

The respin feature can be good on this slot sometimes, and it can be bad other times, same as with Reel Gems. I find it can be a little better on this slot because symbols that don’t exactly match, like different colored 7’s and different amounts of bars on the Bar symbols. You can even line up 5 of a kind more than once on the reels. Just don’t try to spin in one of the jackpot symbols for 5 of a kind unless you are feeling very lucky. It is very expensive to do so and it’s a rare symbol, so hitting it on your first or second respin isn’t very likely.

Mad Dash

Mad Dash is another new slot that hit Microgaming online casinos on November 9th 2010. This slot features 20 paylines, a wild symbol, and the Mad Dash Bonus feature.

The Mad Dash Bonus features a 4-wheeler race between a tortoise, hare, and fox. The bonus feature is triggered when three, four, or five scatter symbols land on the reels during a single spin. You are taken to a screen where you get to select the racer, the quad bike, and the course to race on. If you pick the winning racer you are awarded 25 free spins, 15 free spins for second place, and 10 free spins for third place.

Microgaming has been doing a good job on the recent new slots, I find that I enjoy most of them. This slot seems to hit the bonus round quite often, though I’ve only picked the first place racer a couple times for 25 free spins, the majority of the time you just get 10 or 15 free spins.

See the screenshots below for paytable information, and check back in the future to see if I’ve added any nice winning screenshots after playing it more.

Robin Hood

Robin Hood: Feathers of Fortune hit Microgaming casinos on November 9th 2010. This slot features 243 paylines, stacked wilds, free spins, and the Archery Bonus feature.

It is very similar to Alaskan Fishing, almost exactly the same slot with a different theme, but there is one slight difference. Looking at the very similar paytables, there are two extra symbols on the reels for Alaskan Fishing. This means that the reels are set up quite differently and that will have an effect on the variance (how often it pays). Robin Hood appears to be lower variance, meaning it hits more often, but the wins are relatively small. Alaskan Fishing hits less often, but the wins are usually larger.

I also found that Robin Hood seems to hit free spins more often than Alaskan Fishing. Free spins are triggered when three or more scatter symbols land on the reels during a spin. You are awarded 15 free spins and all wins are doubled. Free spins can be retriggered and the Archery Bonus can be triggered during free spins.

The Archery Bonus is triggered when Robin Hood lands on reels 1 and 5, again just like Alaskan Fishing, and you are taken to a screen where you choose which 5 bags of money you want to shoot to collect the prize.

Since it is so similar to my favorite slot, I definitely like this one too, and it can be less frustrating to play since it hits more often. I haven’t hit anything really big yet, but I’ve had several decent wins so far. See the screenshots below for paytable information and hopefully some nice winning screenshots in the future.

Reel Gems

Reel Gems is a decent new slot that hit MicroGaming casinos this month (November 2010). This 5-reel slot features 243 ways to win, wild symbols on reels 2 and 4, free spins, and a brand new Respin Feature. This feature is new to MicroGaming slots and can be found on this game and Retro Reels, another new slot released this month.

Free spins are triggered when three or more scatters land on the reels during a single spin. You are awarded 15 free spins with all wins being tripled. The respin option is unavailable during free spins, even after the last spin. Free spins can be retriggered.

I have mixed feelings about the respin feature. I have found it to be both very handy, and very dangerous. It’s really only worth it when you can hit the symbol you are looking for in the first respin, but if you are going for 5 of a high paying symbol it can be very costly for that one respin. For instance, if you are betting $2.50 a spin and have the opportunity to respin one reel to line up 5 of the highest paying symbol, it will cost upwards of $75 for one respin. If you hit it on the first spin you win $400, but if not you’ve spent a huge amount for nothing and the odds are no better on the second respin should you choose to go for it.

One way it can be very good, is when you can line up more than one symbol 5 times, or get 5 of a kind of the same symbol more than once. The Q symbol is close to the wild symbol on the reels, so if you can get a wild and a Q on both reels 2 and 4, it can be worth it to respin the other reels to spin in Q symbols. After you line them all up for a decent win you can still respin a single reel, and with the Q being a lower paying symbol it shows up more often. Just be careful you don’t get too greedy and end up losing big, spinning all 5 reels costs a lot less and can still result in a 5 of a kind with a much better return.
