Santa Strikes Back

Santa Strikes Back is a Christmas themed slot found at RTG online casinos, and is the sequel to Rudolph’s Revenge, another fun RTG slot. This slot features 25 paylines, a wild symbol, two different free spins features, and a progressive jackpot that is won by lining up 5 wilds.

It isn’t known what the scatter symbol is until two or more land on the reels. Santa and Rudolph battle within each symbol until one of them is victorious. If three or more scatter symbols have the same result, a bonus feature will be triggered.

If Santa wins in three symbols, the Santa Strikes Back feature is triggered, and if Rudolph is victorious in three symbols, the Rudolph’s Revenge feature is triggered.

The Santa Strikes Back Feature starts at 7 free spins with no multiplier. During the feature, Santa and Rudolph symbols have a candy cane symbol on them them. When a candy cane appears on a reel, the star at the top is lit up. Light all 5 stars to reset the number of free spins to 7 and increase the multiplier by 1. The stars remain lit until a reset is triggered or the feature ends, and the reset can happen up to 19 times to finish with 7 free spins with a 20x multiplier! Scatters are not present during this feature.

The Rudolph’s Revenge Feature awards 7 free spins with a multiplier of 2 plus the number of wild Santa symbols appearing on the reels at the end of each spin. Rudolph will win all the battles when scatters land, so three scatters will retrigger the feature no matter what.

I really enjoy these Santa vs Rudolph slots, they are very entertaining, great graphics, and give decent returns too. See the screenshots below for paytable information.

Scrooge

Scrooge is a Christmas themed online video slot from MicroGaming that features characters from the classic holiday story. It features 50 paylines, a wild symbol, free spins, and the XMAS Dinner Feature that awards up to 20x your bet.

The XMAS Dinner Feature is triggered when three or more scattered door knocker symbols land on the reels during a spin. You are taken to a screen with 5 hungry characters waiting for you to serve their Christmas dinner. Try to guess which one will be the winner and give that character the highest paying dinner to win 20x your bet, lowest win is 6x your bet.

Free spins are triggered in a unique way. You will notice when you load the game, that there is a XMAS countdown calendar on the top left of the screen and a free spins counter on the top right of the screen. While you play the slot, each time any symbols line up for a win, you can select one of the winning symbols to reveal either +1 free spin or +1 day. Once the XMAS calendar reaches the 25th of December, you are awarded the free spins that have accumulated and all wins are doubled during free spins. By the time that happens, there is usually over 30 free spins to play at the least. If you leave the game, you can come back any time and the accumulated free spins and days will still be there. That information is stored on the casino server, you can even log in from a different computer and resume the game.

The amount you can win during free spins is weighted by the amount bet during the whole process of accumulating the free spins and days toward the countdown. I found this out after low-rolling until the 24th and then started betting max. I definitely didn’t win what I should have with 40 free spins on a $5 bet. So stick to one bet size until the feature is triggered so that it will be fair to you.

Return of the Rudolph

Return of the Rudolph is a new Christmas themed RTG video slot for the 2010 holiday season. It features 50 paylines, wild symbols that are stacked on the middle reel, and several bonus features. When the middle reel is stacked full of wilds, all wins are multiplied by three.

This is the third slot in what appears to be a series of Rudolph vs Santa slots. It started with Rudolph’s Revenge, then Santa Strikes back (both of which are names of the bonus features in this slot), and now Return of the Rudolph. All three slots are quite different from each other apart from the theme.

Rudolph is back again, and this time his baseball bat has a nail in it! lol

One of three bonus features can be triggered when 3 or 4 scattered “Thugs” symbols land on the reels during a spin. Select one of the symbols to reveal your bonus round. Hit 5 scatters to win the progressive jackpot.

If you find the Rudolph’s Rampage feature, you are taken to Santa’s toy factory where three elves are hiding. Select from 8 different spots to find all the elves, you are awarded free spins based on the amount of spots you selected when looking for the elves. Find all three elves in three picks to get 50 free spins, and then each selection after awards less spins – 25 spins for 4 picks, then 20, 15, 10, and finally 5 free spins if the last elf is found in the last spot.

If an elf is found holding a red present, the scattered Thugs act as wilds additional to the Rudolph symbols. If an elf is found holding a blue present, all wins are multiplied by 4 during free spins, otherwise all spins are doubled. If an elf is found holding a green present, Rudolph fills the middle reel during all free spins. All three presents can be found during the same feature, and hitting 3 or 4 scattered Thugs during free spins adds and additional 7 spins.

The Santa Strikes Back feature initially awards 7 free spins with no multiplier. If a Santa, Rudolph, or Thugs symbol lands on a reel during a spin, the star at the top of the reel is lit up. The stars remain lit until all 5 are lit or the feature ends. When all 5 stars are lit up, free spins are reset to 7 and a multiplier is added. This can happen up to 9 times to finish with 7 free spins at a 10x multiplier.

If you get the Rudolph’s Revenge feature, you are awarded 7 free spins with all wins being multiplied by 2 plus the number of Rudolph symbols on the screen. If 4 scattered Thugs symbols triggered the feature, the Thugs will act as additional Rudolph symbols during the free spins.

Obviously no shortage of entertainment on this slot, and I still haven’t been able to see every part of every feature, I haven’t found all the different presents yet that the elves can hold for example. Return of the Rudolph seems to be a great slot and the wilds have been landing quite often for me. See the screenshots below for paytable information.

Royal Feast

Royal Feast was released to Microgaming casinos on December 7th 2010. This 5-reel video slot features 15 paylines, wild symbols, and a unique free spins feature.

Free spins are triggered when at least two scatter symbols land left to right. You are awarded 5 free spins and the triggering scatter symbols are held for all 5 spins, paying each time. Only scatter wins are paid for these free spins, other symbols don’t matter. If another scatter symbol lands on any reel during those free spins, the free spin count is reset to 5 and that scatter is also held. This can repeat until all reels are held with a scatter on each one, at which time you would win the max payout of 15x your bet 5 times in a row.

I don’t recall seeing this type of free spin feature on any other Microgaming slot, and I’m pretty sure I’ve played all of them, though only a few spins on some that I didn’t care for. I didn’t have the best luck when I first played this slot, and it took forever to hit the free spins. After playing it a few more times, I’ve had better luck with some decent wins during regular play, but still had a tough time hitting the bonus.

I was playing this slot for fun today at Jackpot City, just trying to see how rare the free spins were. They are definitely hard to hit, but it tends to line up the symbols for decent wins fairly often to keep you going. After many spins I finally hit the bonus, and ended up getting 5 scatters to win over $300 on a $3 spin. So it is possible, just don’t bust out trying to get the bonus as it doesn’t seem to trigger very often.

New Website Feature

A new feature was added to this website today that makes viewing images and groups of images much easier. If you have visited the Slots and Screenshots section before, you may have found it annoying that you had to open each picture in a new window or tab to be able to read the paytable information. Now, using a lightbox-style app, if you click on a screenshot it will pop up in the same window and give you the option to click “Next” or just click on the picture to go to the next image in that group.

Try this group of some of my winning screenshots for example by clicking on one of the images:

I think that is much better, and I hope you enjoy this new feature. Visit the casino below to create your own winning screenshots and share them with fellow gamblers on my Facebook page.

Santa’s Wild Ride

Santa’s Wild Ride is one of two new Microgaming slots released on December 7th 2010. It is a 5-reel slot featuring 243 ways to win, a wild symbol with a multiplier of 2x-4x, free gifts on reels 2 and 4, and a free spins bonus feature with three different options.

If a free gift lands on reel 2 and/or 4, it will pop open and reveal a cash prize. Free gifts are not present during free spins, and they are not multiplied by the wild symbol. So far I have seen anywhere between 150 to 750 coins awarded per gift when betting 150 coins.

The wild symbols award a random multiplier of 2x, 3x, or 4x when involved in a win.

When three or more scatter symbols land on the reels during a spin, you are awarded 25 free spins with three different options for the type of wild you would like, and all wins are doubled. You have the choice between stacked wilds, expanding wilds, or trailing wilds. Stacked wilds are what I find to be the best choice, the wild symbols are stacked three high on every reel, I’ve had the best luck with this option so far. Expanding wilds are OK, but I find the stacked wilds have a better chance of at least hitting one wild on a reel, and it’s a 243-way slot so the better chance of getting at least one wild on a reel is the better bet.

The trailing wilds are interesting, and I have had a bit of luck with them but nothing big yet. When a wild lands on a reel at either the middle or the top, it will slide down after the win is tallied and stay there for the next spin along with the original. After it can’t slide down any more, it goes away for the next spin. This has great potential since the reel can have a wild for up to 3 spins, and if other wilds land there could be some big wins.

Return of the Rudolph Slot

Return of the Rudolph was recently released at RTG online casinos, just in time for the holiday season. It is a very feature rich video slot that goes along with the line of Rudolph vs. Santa slots that RTG has created. Rudolph’s Revenge and Santa Strikes Back are two great slots that came before it, and are actually the names of two of the bonus features in Return of the Rudolph.

This slot features 50 paylines, wild symbols that are stacked on the middle reel, a progressive jackpot, and three different bonus features.

Get three or four scattered “Thugs” in one spin to trigger one of the features, choosing one of the Thugs will reveal which bonus you get. Five scattered Thugs wins the progressive jackpot.

The three bonus features are Rudolph’s Rampage – win up to 50 free spins with a special gift if you’re lucky, Santa Strikes Back – with 7 free spins that are easily retriggered, and Rudolph’s Revenge – which awards 7 free spins with extra multipliers based on the number of Rudolphs on screen and extra wilds if triggered by four scatter symbols.
