Battlestar Galactica was released by Microgaming in December 2012. This new slot features 243 ways to win, stacked wilds, free spins, unlock-able video content, and three different play modes. Obviously the theme is based on the Battlestar Galactica television series which, to be honest, I never really watched when it was on TV. When you line up symbols that feature a character from the show, a video clip will play from the TV show with that character in it. Each spin of the reels will give you experience points which are used to give you a rank. As you increase in rank, you will unlock new video clips from the Battlestar Galactica TV series that play when you win. The higher your bet is, the more experience points you will gain per spin. Normal Mode is what you start with when you first play this slot. The Ion Storm can be randomly triggered at any time during Normal Mode and it can turn entire reels wild, up to all five of them. This is similar to the Wildstorm feature from Thunderstruck II and the Wild Desire feature from Immortal Romance.
Run Mode can be activated randomly at any time; during this mode all wins pay from left-to-right and right-to-left. There is a Faster Than Light (FTL) symbol added to the middle reel during this mode. If the FTL symbol lands on the middle reel during a spin, that symbol will change to and random one from the paytable, and change every A K Q J 10 on the screen to that symbol. Big wins are possible if the reels have a lot of playing card symbols, and the FTL symbol changes to a high paying one.
Fight Mode can only be triggered during Run Mode. During this mode, random symbols can be turned wild at any time, and these wilds can also split in two to create more winning combinations. The Free Spins feature is also different when triggered during Run Mode, you are only given 5 free spins rather than 15, but additional free spins can be awarded during the feature.
The Free Spins feature is triggered when three or more scatters land on the reels during a spin. You are awarded coins for the scatter win plus 15 free spins with all wins being tripled. Free spins cannot be re-triggered.
